How To - Create a song database
If you have your song list or karaoke catalog stored in a file, you can upload it to Lime DJ and allow your audience to browse it and make requests from it.
This means that you will receive song requests from what you actually have available or your repertoire if you are a band or solo performer.
To create a song database you must have database credits, these are include in PRO plans or can be purchased as an add-on to any other account.
Prepare Your Songlist
You need a csv file with two columns to upload to Lime DJ, the easiest way to create this is with Google Sheets which is free.
Have Artist Names in first column and Song Titles in the second column.
Once you have TWO COLUMNS in your Google Sheet, click on File > Download > Comma Separated Values (.csv)
Create Song Database
Once you have your song list csv file downloaded to your computer, click on Databases in the left menu and give your database a name eg; DJ Set, Karaoke List, Live Set, 80's Songs, 90's Song, etc..
Click Next when you’re done.
Click the + icon and select the .csv file that you downloaded from Google Sheets and uploading will begin.
If upload is successful you will see a confirmation message and your song list is ready to use in a show.
Editing Your Songlist
You can edit your songlist at any time by visiting the Song Manager page in the dashboard and selecting the database that you would like to edit.
Click on a song to bring up options to edit or delete the song. Click on ‘More Options’ to add lyrics to a song.
You can also add to or completely replace your songlist with a new .csv file at anytime by clicking on your songlist on the Databases page.
Use your songlist in a show
To use your uploaded songlist, create a show and open the Show Settings page… ensure 'Use Song Database' is enabled and select the songlist you wish to use.
You can purchase more song databases to use on your account at anytime for unlimited songlists to choose from.
With multiple databases you can also enable an option which will allow the audience to select which database to browse.. eg; have different databases for different genres or one for karaoke and one for DJ etc…
Quick Tip
To restrict song requests to your songlist selection only, on the Show Settings page make sure 'Database Requests Only' is enabled.
